It’s been an exciting week for the Rail Intel team as we hit the road to engage with industry leaders, innovators and decision-makers at two major events shaping the future of mobility.
Birmingham: Focus on Light Rail – Rail Forum (5 November)
We were delighted to join suppliers, operators and transport authorities at Rail Forum’s Focus on Light Rail event in Leeds.
Throughout the day, conversations centred on one clear theme: data-driven intelligence is becoming mission-critical to how the UK’s light rail networks plan, benchmark and perform.
From operational performance to long-term planning and investment cases, attendees were keen to explore how Rail Intel’s Global Light Rail Portal is helping organisations:
- Compare performance across networks
- Track global investment and development trends
- Identify new market opportunities
- Support informed, evidence-based decisions
The level of engagement and forward-thinking energy at the event showed just how important robust, real-time intelligence has become to the sector’s future.

Barcelona: Smart City Expo World Congress (4 November)
The day before, our team was at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona.
Discussions ranged from sustainable transport integration to next-generation mobility planning, with a strong focus on the role real-time data and intelligent analytics will play in delivering connected, efficient and resilient cities.
Across conversations, the Global Light Rail Portal stood out for its ability to:
- Provide global benchmarking at the click of a button
- Reveal trends in transport innovation, electrification and modal shift
- Support planners, government bodies and mobility providers with trusted insights
- Bridge the gap between local decision-making and global best practice
As cities worldwide race to decarbonise and modernise their transport systems, access to reliable, comparative data has never been more essential.

Looking Ahead
Both events reinforced the same message: the future of light rail and urban mobility will be shaped by the quality of the data driving it.
We’re proud that Rail Intel is at the forefront of this transformation, equipping the sector with unparalleled global intelligence to support better decisions, better planning, and better outcomes.
